For the first time since 2003, Aleve will return to NASCAR as a primary sponsor this weekend in the Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway for Bayley Currey.
“I’m excited to be behind the wheel of Aleve’s car as it makes its return to NASCAR,” Currey said in a statement to Jayski. “Martinsville Speedway is a track that requires me to be at my best, so having a great partner in my corner only makes me stronger.”
In July, through a partnership managed by sales and content firm A.E. Engine, Currey brought Alka-Seltzer back to the sport for the first time since 2004. A.E. Engine is the official publisher of NASCAR Pole Position.
Aleve, a Bayer Consumer Health Brand, will be centered on the hood of Currey’s No. 4 JD Motorsports Chevrolet. The car will also feature other Bayer brands, including MiraLAX, Phillips’, Probiotics, Claritin, Bayer Aspirin and Alka-Seltzer. Alka-Seltzer concluded its five-race primary sponsorship of Currey at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 15.
Since 2000, Aleve has been on a racecar in 28 Xfinity Series races. Its first race was at Rockingham with Tony Raines, finishing 24th. Aleve sponsored Raines in portions of the 2000, 2001 and 2002 seasons before jumping to Roush Racing in 2003 to partner with Matt Kenseth. In three starts running the Aleve colors, Kenseth had a pair of wins at Auto Club Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Currey enters Martinsville sitting 21st in the Xfinity Series driver’s standings, and could crack the top 20 this weekend. The No. 4 car currently ranks 26th in the Xfinity owner standings.
Dating back to mid-September at Bristol Motor Speedway, Currey has a trio of top-15 finishes in six races. In that span, he’s led 16 laps, including 12 at Talladega Superspeedway.
