Larry Phillips named to NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers list

A short-track terror in the bullrings of the Midwest, Missouri’s Larry Phillips won a record five national championships in what is now known as the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. Full records documenting his success are incomplete, but Phillips won a remarkable 220 of his 289 NASCAR-sanctioned starts from 1989-96, a winning clip of 76.1 percent that included 13 track championships in three states.
