UPDATE 3: Stewart Friesen took to Facebook in a separate post and video, stating that he has lingering back pain since the wreck on Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. Friesen says the concern is in his L2, L3 vertebrae. After discussing the situation with his doctors and family, Friesen intends to move forward with his modified plans at Oswego Speedway. If pain persists, he will relinquish his modified duties to his wife, Jessica.
Friesen posted:
“After consulting with my family and doctors, we are going to give it a shot for Super Dirt Week this weekend at Oswego Speedway. The pain and area most affected from Talladega is the L2 & L3 region of my lower back.
We are going to practice the No. 44 Modified on Wednesday, consult with the doctor each day and take it from there.
Thank you to everyone for their concern and support the past few days. It has meant a lot to myself and the team.
See you in Oswego.”
UPDATE 2: Greg was transported to UAB Hosp following the wreck at Talladega, where he was diagnosed with a fractured vertebrae. He was released early this morning. Thank you for the support and concern over the last hours and in the coming weeks as he recovers.

AND: Two separate accidents in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Love’s RV Stop 250 Playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway won by Brett Moffitt on Saturday sent Stewart Friesen and Greg Van Alst to the hospital for further examination after they were checked at the 2.66-mile track’s infield care center.
Van Alst’s Chevrolet was one of the 10 trucks involved in the massive crash that occurred with two laps remaining. The harsh impact from his Chevrolet’s front end slamming head-on into the trioval wall lifted all four-wheels off the ground. He, too, was taken to the infield care center before being transported to the hospital.
Both trucks were taken to the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, N.C., for a safety inspection.

Original post: Stewart Friesen has been transported to a local hospital for further evaluation after a crash during Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs Round of 8 race at Talladega Superspeedway.
Friesen and postseason contender Christian Eckes collided on entry to Turn 3 during the contest’s 39th lap, with Eckes’ right-front fender tipping Friesen’s truck in the left rear. The nose of Friesen’s Toyota bounced off the right side of Tyler Ankrum’s truck, sending both vehicles into the retaining SAFER barrier.
Friesen exited his truck under his own power but appeared shaken after the impact. The AMR Safety Team assisted Friesen to the ambulance, which first transported him to the infield care center before he was later transported to a local hospital.
