NASCAR is bringing high-octane excitement to the heart of downtown Des Moines with NASCAR’s Iowa Fan Fest on Thursday July 31. This free community celebration will be held from 4-7:30 p.m. at Cowles Commons, 221 Walnut St, Des Moines, IA 50309.
Fans of all ages are invited to enjoy an evening packed with racing-themed fun, local flavor, and exclusive experiences, including NASCAR driver appearances and free Deardorff Sweet Corn for the first 500 guests, provided by the Iowa Corn Promotion Board and Hy-Vee.
“There’s nothing quite like the energy of race week in Iowa, and NASCAR’s Iowa Fan Fest is the perfect way to kick it off,” said Eric Peterson, President of Iowa Speedway. “It’s a celebration of everything that makes Iowa special — corn, great fans, and a love for racing. We’re thrilled to bring the NASCAR spirit right into the heart of downtown Des Moines before our exciting weekend of racing, Aug. 1-3.”
Other Fan Fest highlights will include:
- Show Cars by Chevrolet
- Iowa Corn Trailer
- Live DJ spinning music all evening
- KIX 101.1 Horsepower Hour live radio broadcast
- Interactive kids activities
- Local food vendors
The event, made possible by the support of event partners Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Hy-Vee, Chevrolet, Iowa Lottery, and Prairie Meadows, will connect racing fans with the community as excitement builds for the upcoming NASCAR race weekend at Iowa Speedway.
That weekend begins on Friday, Aug. 1, with the ARCA Menards Series’ Atlas Roofing 150 and continues on Saturday, Aug. 2, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Hy-Vee Perks 250. And then on Sunday, Aug. 3, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series compete in the Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol, which will be preceded by a Busch Light Summer Music Series performance by country music star Corey Kent. Tickets for the Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol are sold out, but a limited number of tickets remain for Friday and Saturday’s action. Saturday action also includes NASCAR Cup Series drivers competing for the Busch Light Pole Award for Sunday’s main event.
Given that last year’s NASCAR weekend completely sold out, fans should visit www.iowaspeedway.com immediately to secure their tickets while supplies last.
