  • Construction began on what was then known as the Alabama International Motor Speedway on May 23, 1968, and today covers nearly 3,000 acres.
  • The first NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway was held on September 14, 1969; the event was won by Richard Brickhouse in a Ray Nichels’ 1969 Dodge Daytona.
  • The first NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway was held on July 25, 1992; the event was won by Ernie Irvan (Chevrolet).
  • The first NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway was held on October 7, 2006; the event was won by Mark Martin (Ford).
  • The name of the track changed to Talladega Superspeedway in 1989.
