NASCAR increases tire allotment for San Diego Cup race

NASCAR has increased the tire allotment for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado following feedback from teams.

The sanctioning body informed teams on Saturday that one additional set of tires will be added to the race allotment.

The allotment will now be six sets of sticker tires and one set of qualifying scuffs. The original allotment called for five sets of sticker tires and one set of qualifying scuffs.

The change comes after teams got a chance to evaluate tire wear during practice on Friday.
