  • Tim Steele news: Tim Steele will skip the NHIS and Heartland Park CTS races due to lack of funds. But he plans to run the other seven CTS events in the #21 Ford truck.   • Schrader Team: Scott Hanson has been told that unless he can find a sponsor for the #52 Ken Schrader owned truck for the 2000 season, Schrader will not run a full-time team. Oakwood Homes is moving up to Winston Cup in 2000. If no sponsor is found, Schrader may run the truck in a few races himself next season(WC Scene Magazine)(7-30-1999)

  • Crew Chief Changes UPDATE 2: I hear Roland Wlodyka of the #98 truck is going to Dale Phelon’s #66 as Crew Chief for Mike Stefanik and that Rodney Haygood, who was laid off by the #6 Remax team last week (the whole team was shut down by the owner Marshall Chesrown) will be going to the #98 of Kevin Harvick as Crew Chief. No idea how this effects current #66 crew chief, Emory Donaldson(7-19-1999) — UPDATE: Roland Wlodyka has resigned as crew chief of the #98 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford F-150, it was announced Monday by Jim Herrick, owner of Liberty Racing, which fields the #98 truck on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Wlodyka’s resignation is effective immediately. Rodney Haygood has been selected as interim crew chief, Herrick announced. Haygood comes to Liberty after a successful stint as the crew chief for Chesrown Racing and driver Rick Carelli. Under Haygood’s guidance, Carelli won twice, including a race earlier this season in Bakersfield, Calif. Haygood will assume the interim duties for this weekend’s goracing.com 200 at Michigan Speedway.   • Truck Story: No joke, NASCAR pickups are gaining steam with race fans by Steve Crowe of the Detroit Free Press via That’s Racin'(7-27-1999)
  • Trucks on Friday’s?? ‘A number” of Winston Cup tracks are expected to feature NASCAR Truck events on Friday afternoons next season, as the sanctioning body attempts to shore up the division, according to NASCAR sources. And there could be pressure on Winston Cup team owners and drivers to enter some of those Truck races. The Truck series has been struggling. Only 32 trucks made the Michigan race(PitNow)(7-26-1999)

  • #90 Truck team done? UPDATE: I hear that the #90 L&R Motorsports team, who Lance Norick drives for has closed their doors and shut done the team(7-6-1999) — UPDATE: The L & R Truck is planning on practicing and qualifying for the race in Nashville. They are doing this with two team members and Lance Norick. Don’t know what the future plans are. Note, they qualified for the race(7-9-1999)
  • Carelli Update: From what I hear, Rick Carelli is doing good, still improving, but still having some problems with his sight. It was great to see him do well braodcast on the Truck race. Marshall Chesrown, owner of team, suspended all racing operations on Wednesday of the #6 Truck team. No plans for the team at this time. Also sone current update at the Remax Racing Page(7-8-1999)
  • New Truck Team: CSG Racing has announced plans to enter the California Truck race on October 30 for a one race deal with Cornwell Quality Tools as primary sponsor. Veteran ARCA competitor Mark Gibson is listed as driver of the CORNWELL Tools #59 Ford F-150. Cornwell Tools has been involved with CSG since 1997 in the ARCA Bondo-Mar/Hyde Series and serves as the official hand tool of ARCA. A press conference is scheduled for July 16th at Cornwell’s headquarters in Wadsworth, Ohio. 1/24th scale die cast trucks will be available directly from Cornwell dealers August 1st(Professional Motorsports Services)(7-7-1999)
  • McGlynn team news: I hear that CTS driver Ryan McGlynn and the #00 McGlynn Motorsports team have signed a deal with primary sponsor Buyer’s Choice Automotive Warranties and associate sponsor Howes Lubricants to sponsor the team throughout the second half of the season beginning at Nashville for the rest of the year(7-6-1999)
  • Milwaukee Story: Doubleheader weekend will stay intact, track GM says(7-6-1999)
  • Sauter and the #3 Truck: Jay Sauter is in his fourth season with RCR, but the 2000 season remains a mystery at this point. RCR’s sponsorship deal with GM Goodwrench Service expires after this season. Actually, it expired last year and GM Goodwrench decided to do one more year but they will not sponsor any truck team in 2000 The 37-year-old son of former Winston Cup driver Jim Sauter has one year remaining on his original four-year contract with RCR. Sauter would certainly welcome a jump to Busch or Winston Cup, but at this point he is happy running the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.   • Truck News: Jerry Robertson of Denver, CO will pilot the #26 Mittler Bros/ATI Ford at Milwaukee for his 2nd race of the year. Robertson was also the driver for the #26 Ford at TexasMotor Speedway finishing 26th for their sponsor, Lucas Oil(Sue’s ADNASCAR Newsletter)(7-1-1999)
  • Reffner Story: Former rookie of the year Reffner now struggling, It’s been only three years since Bryan Reffner came to the Milwaukee Mile in the midst of a battle for rookie of the year honors in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series that he ultimately would win(Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)(7-1-1999)
