#6-Trevor Bayne was not eligible for Rookie of the Year on 2015 as NASCAR says he ran too many past Sprint Cup Series races.

Sherwin Williams will be the primary sponsor at Phoenix in Nov (4-11-2015). McDonald’s and Cessna return and will sponsor more races than in 2014, combining to be primary or co-sponsors in 29 races. Per Lionel Racing, Bass Pro Shops will return in 2015, was the sponsor in one race in 2014 (11-30-2014). LiftMaster moves to Hendrick Motorsports #5 team to sponsor Kahne for three races in 2015 (11-20-2014). Matt McCall named the new crew chief for McMurray (11-18-2014). Avaya, a new sponsor, will run at Kansas in May (5-1-2015). Alliance Truck Parts will be the primary sponsor for six races with a new paint scheme. No word if Detroit Genuine Parts will return as a primary sponsor in 2015 (1-27-2015). Wurth will be primary sponsor for Keselowski in three 2015 races (10-23-2014). Ryan Blaney & Juan Pablo Montoya ran two races each in the #12 Ford in 2014. Blaney will run 12 races in the #21 Wood Brothers Ford in 2015. No word if they will continue to do so, but Penske indicated in mid 2014 that Team Penske would remain a two-car team in 2015 (5-25-2014). Labbe will be back as the crew chief in 2016 and has been offered a 3-year extension (10-19-2015). Slugger Labbe takes over as the crew chief after Michigan in June. Former crew chief Gil Martin will move into a leadership role within the RCR R&D Department, taking over Labbe’s responsibilities. Martin will work in another capacity at RCR (6-15-2015). No changes expected in 2014 after RCR brought back the #3 in 2014 and Dillon ran for rookie of the year in 2014 (5-25-2014). Bass Pro Shops was the primary sponsor for two races in 2014 (4-8-2014). Realtree and Bad Boy Buggies were the co-primary sponsor at Bristol in March(3-7-2014). Main primary sponsors in 2014 were Dow Chemical (16 races), Cheerios, Bass Pro Shops and American Ethanol, no word if they return, but supposedly the deals were multiyear. Bayne is not eligible for Rookie of the Year as NASCAR says he ran too many Cup races (1-28-2015). Bob Osborne will return to the pitbox as the crew chief in 2015 for Bayne. Osborne was previously crew chief doe #99 Carl Edwards, but left crew chiefing a few years ago to deal with health issues (1-6-2015). Crew chief Jimmy Fennig will not move to this team after the 2014 season, he will retire as a crew chief and work in RFR’s R&D shop (9-10-2014). Fennig could move over from the #99 team when Edwards leaves to be the crew chief (7-24-2014). Roush Fenway Racing announced in May 2014 that it will again field its iconic #6 Sprint Cup entry in the 2015 NASCAR season, with Trevor Bayne driving the car with full multi-year primary partnership from AdvoCare (5-24-2014). No word if Roush will run Bayne in a few 2014 races to build up some team attempts. The #6 sat out the 2013 & 2014 seasons. The #6 last ran during the 2012 season with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. running four races. The team last ran full-time in 2011 with David Ragan. | ||||||

Hamlin said in May at Dover, 2015 is NOT a contract year and that “I’ve still got some time left on my deal,” he said. “I’ve been with Gibbs for really a lot time. I’d hope to stay with them.” No word on exactly when Hamlin’s deal is over with JGR (5-29-2015). Sport Clips will be the primary sponsor at Auto Club in March and Darlington in Sept (1-14-2015). Todd Berrier comes over from Furniture Row Racing as the Director of Inspections for JGR (12-5-2014). Dave Rogers replaces crew chief Darian Grubb who moves to JGR’s #19 with Carl Edwards (12-4-2014). Hamlin signed an extension in 2012, which are usually three-year deals, so looks like Hamlin is signed thru 2015 at JGR. Have not heard anything concerning FedEx leaving as the main primary sponsor. Stewart announced that he will retire at the end of the 2016 season. Clint Bowyer will drive the #14 Chevy, starting in the 2017 season, bringing Five-Hour Energy with him for an announced number of races. Bowyer will drive for HScott Motorsports in 2016 for one year (10-1-2015). All sponsors return in 2015 and crew chief Chad Johnston, who just started as the #14 crew chief in 2014, will return in 2015 (5-24-2014). | ||||||

Bowyer will drive for HScott Motorsports in 2016, then take over the #14 Chevy at Stewart-Haas Racing when Tony Stewart retires after the 2016 season (10-1-2015). Robert Kauffman said that MWR will cease operation and not run in 2016 (8-21-2015). Michael Waltrip Racing and Clint Bowyer have mutually agreed to separate at the conclusion of the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Bowyer will be free to pursue other career options in 2016 and beyond. Team co-owner Rob Kauffman said MWR will not field a full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup entry in 2016 (8-19-2015). Michael Waltrip Racing principal Owner Rob Kauffman bought into Chip Ganassi Racing. At first it was reported Kauffman would buy out co-owner Felix Sabates, but Sabates says he in not selling or ‘going anywhere’. Some reports have Kauffman dropping his affiliation with MWR. Kauffman said on August 2nd that “any idea that I’m leaving [MWR] or taking anything is actually misplaced. What we’re actually doing is integrating the businesses, trying to get the most competitive product on track,” and indicated there are many details still to be determined. Reports have #15-Clint Bowyer and some of MWR sponsors [5-Hour Energy, Aaron’s, Peak, AAA, Maxwell House] moving to Chip Ganassi Racing. Other reports have MWR merging into CGR and being a four-car team, all with Chevy. CGR principal Owner Chip Ganassi would continue to retain majority control (8-2-2015). Casey’s General Store / Hughes General Contractors sponsored Bowyer at Kentucky (7-9-2015). Crew Chief Brian Pattie moves to MWR’s #55 Toyota Camry driven by David Ragan. Billy Scott moves from the #55 to be the #15 Crew Chief for Bowyer starting at Michigan in June. Additional changes include a reorganization of lead, secondary and support engineers for each team. Car chiefs, road mechanics and pit crews will remain with their originally assigned teams(6-9-2015). Jack Link’s and Big Machine Records will sponsor Bowyer at Pocono in June (5-29-2015). Maxwell House Coffee will be the primary sponsor in four races: Pocono and Watkins Glen in August, Martinsville and Texas in November. Maxwell House will also sponsor Michael Waltrip at Talladega in October, no word if it’ll be in the #55 or a 3rd MWR car (4-10-2015). MWR announced extensions with Bowyer, Pattie and 5-Hour Energy, looks like it will be for three years thru 2017. 5-Hour Energy will be the primary sponsor for 24 races a season (5-5-2014). Cheez-It will move to Biffle’s team for an unannounced number of races (10-22-2014). Ortho announced they will be a primary sponsor for about half the races (16-17) in 2015, some using the Ortho Fire Ant Killer featured on the #16 (8-29-2014). 3M will leave as the sponsor after the 2014 season and move to the #24 with Jeff Gordon. Juicy Juice will be the primary sponsor at Charlotte in October (6-2-2015). Nick Sandler takes over as crew chief in 2015. Former crew chief Mike Kelley will be the car chief in 2015 (1-6-2015). Zest will again serve as a primary for Stenhouse for multiple races in 2015, as well as a season-long associate. Indications are that Fifth Third Bank and NOS will return in some capacity (7-30-2014). Roush Fenway Racing announced that Fastenal will team with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., serving as the anchor sponsor on the #17 Ford for a multi-year agreement beginning in 2015 (7-27-2014). Nationwide Insurance will leave and go to the #88 Hendrick Motorsports team starting in 2015. No word if Zest, Fifth Bird Bank, or NOS return in 2015. Busch came back and ran the All-Star race in May at Charlotte and will run the rest of the season. NASCAR granted Busch a waiver to make the Chase as long as he wins a race and scores enough points to be at least 30th in the drivers points standings after Richmond in Sept (5-13-2015). Ragan will be in the car thru Talladega in May. Jones will take over at Kansas and run the car until Busch returns to the car at an unknown race. NASCAR indefinitely suspended Busch on 2/20/2015 after a Delaware Family Court Commissioner concluded that “it is more likely than not” that Busch committed an act of domestic abuse against ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll in Sept. Busch lost two appeals to NASCAR on Saturday to get back in the car. A NASCAR spokesperson said the sanctioning body would send guidelines to Busch on what he must do to be reinstated (2-22-2015). Busch will be back in the car in 2015, but could get suspended by NASCAR if he goes to trial for assault/domestic abuse and is convicted. The Dover Police Department finished its investigation into allegations against Busch, but declined to say whether investigators were recommending that he be charged and the report was not released. Busch’s ex-girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, says Busch choked her and smashed her head into a wall three times inside his motorhome at Dover International Speedway in September. Josh Wise scheduled to run the car at Richmond and New Hampshire in Sept (8-29-2015). Plans to run Darlington, Richmond, New Hampshire in Sept; Dover and Charlotte in October; Martinsville and Phoenix in November (8-22-2015). Kvapil attempted to make the Bristol race in August but failed to qualify, supposedly will be in the car at Darlington (8-21-2015). Kvapil was in the car at Kentucky but failed to make the race when qualifying was rained out and the team didn’t have enough race attempts (7-10-2015). The Motorsports Group has released its tentative schedule for the balance of the 2015 Sprint Cup Season. The team plans to run in 13 of the remaining 27 races, starting at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Jeff Green is listed as the driver on the TMG site (4-28-2015). Jeff Green raced the car at Richmond in April (4-24-2015). Dave Fuge is listed as the crew chief as of Bristol in April. Pat Tryson is now the crew chief of the #33 team when Circle Sport fields the car (not RCR)(4-14-2015). After withdrawing from Martinsville in April to prepare for Texas, the team wan’t entered at Texas or has been heard from since (8-14-2015). An arrest warrant was issued for #44 team owner John Cohen in mid March, no word what happened with that (3-14-2015). Travis Kvapil was to run Atlanta but the car and truck/trailer carrying the car were stolen on Friday, Feb 27th and the team didn’t have another car. The car was found Saturday morning but the team had to withdraw from the race. Plans are to run Kvapil at Las Vegas and Phoenix (2-28-2015). Reed Sorenson made the Daytona 500. The sponsor will be Golden Corral and Peter Sospenzo returns as the crew chief. No word on plans after Daytona, much depends on if the team makes the Daytona 500 (2-9-2015). Ran the Sprint Showdown with Berryhill but hasn’t run a race since (7-11-2015). After failing to qualifying for the three races after the Daytona 500, the team suspended operations (3-18-2015). Tanner Berryhill announced he would run the #66 Chevy at Phoenix in March, but failed to qualify (3-9/13-2015). After missing Atlanta and Las Vegas in March, Wallace announced the team was not going to Phoenix and would skip races (3-8-2015). Ran an Toyota in the Daytona 500 and a Chevy at Atlanta (2-26-2015). Crazy Vapors will be the primary sponsor in the Daytona 500 (2-10-2015). Premium Motorsports buys interest in #36 Tommy Baldwin Racing and will run it as the #62 Chevy team. No word who will drive the #36 and if JJR will still run the #66 and/or #49 teams (1-6-2015). Was known as Identity Ventures Racing in 2014, changed to Premium Motorsports late in the 2014 season. Michael Waltrip Racing partnered with this team in 2014. No word if that partnership continues in 2015 or if Premium Motorsports runs the team alone. The team also ran a few races with a 2nd car, the #87/#49 in 2014. Mike Wallace and Brett Moffitt finished up the season in the car. Supposedly the team is hoping to bring Wallace back. Moffitt is a MWR driver and could end up in the #55, subbing for Vickers who is out the first few races of the season. Joe Nemechek ran many races in the #66, but supposedly split with the team. Supposedly Nemechek is concentrating on his Truck Series team and will not attempt any Cup races in 2015. Nemechek did run one race in 2015, at Atlanta in the #34 Ford for Front Row Motorsports after Ragan left for the #18 ride (7-1-2015). Was listed on the initial Daytona entry list but withdrew when they couldn’t get the car ready in time. No word on the next attempt (2-14-2015). Nemechek sold off most of his cars in 2014 but says he plans to run a few races during the 2015 season. No word if he uses a Toyota or switches to Chevy. Nemechek plans to concentrate on the Truck Series and working with his son John in the Truck series. NEMCO switched to Chevy for the Truck Series (2-6-2015). Was known as Identity Ventures Racing in 2014, changed to Premium Motorsports late in the 2014 season. Have heard nothing regarding this team since it announced it was reorganizing in April 2014 (7-24-2015). A report came out in Sept 2014 that Swan Racing was suing #44 Team Xxtreme, but have not heard anything about the lawsuit since (2-9-2015). TMG announced (see full time teams above) they will run the full 2015 season using the #30, no word if Swan Races comes back, and if so, what number they would run or who would drive. Nothing has been posted on their Facebook, Twitter or website since April 2014 (11-17-2014). Swan Racing announced it restructured the company in April 2014, selling off one team to XXXtreme Motorsports (Now Team Xtreme Racing) #44 team. The other team, #26 with Cole Whitt, moved to BK Racing as a third full time team. Roush has no announced plans to run a fourth team in 2015. #99 team owners points will go to the #6 team and Trevor Bayne in 2015. Crew chief Jimmy Fennig will retire from crew chiefing and work in the R&D shop for Roush (9-7-2014). RFR announced the team will run 3-cars in 2014 with #6-Bayne, #16-Biffle & #17-Stenhouse Jr. Edwards will not return to Roush Fenway Racing in 2015, supposedly going to Joe Gibbs Racing’s 4th team.
