Shane Hmiel returned to the track today at Daytona International Speedway behind the wheel of Team CLR's #57 Ford Taurus. Team CLR plans on running selected ARCA and Nextel Cup races in 2004. They also hope to participate in some form or another in the Busch series

A combination deal might land Steve Hmiel, technical director for Dale Earnhardt Inc., and his son Shane Hmiel, a Busch Series driver, at Petty Enterprises in 2004. Steve worked for the Pettys early in his Winston Cup career. Shane was supposed to drive the #43 Dodge

there are some rumors floating around that Shane Hmiel has been released from his ride with the #48 Innovative Motorsports team, but have not been able to confirm that with sources or the team. He is still listed on NASCAR.com's Entry List for the Stacker 2 200 race
