"TriStar Motorsports(Owner Mark Smith #19 Ford) has ceased racing in 1997 but has not shut down completely. It has moved it's shop from Huntersville, NC to Mooresville. The team has downsized but plans to race in 1998". As reported here, Smith's engine dept is building

More info on Todd Bodines new team: ISM Racing is a offshoot of Indianapolis, Ind.-based International Sports Marketing, whose owners were not revealed during the press conference. However, two of them are believed to be Bob Hancher, who will serve as team manager

From NASCAR Online: Todd Bodine announced his Winston Cup plans as he will return full-time in 1998 driving a #35 Pontiac sponsored by Tabasco brand Pepper Sauce. The Team Tabasco shop, is headed up by Bob Hancher. Bodine will be driving a Pontiac sponsored by Tabasco

I hear Andy Santerre, a BGNN driver said he is about to sign a deal to put him in a ride for the BGN series for 1998. He could not reveal the team, but said that it would be in one of the top three teams currently in the points. Hmmm... my guess is the #36 Stanley

This rumor was reported with Geoff Bodine a week or so ago but Todd Bodines new three year deal to drive a Pontiac may be with IRL team owner/driver Eddie Cheever(Dan Marino was mentioned in the Geoff rumor because Marino is a spokesperson for FirstPlus, Cheevers IRL

Todd Bodines deal is NOT with Team 34(his current BGN team) but a team that has had a lot of success... in Indy car racing. The deal was initially to include Geoff as well and be a two car team...now it appears that it will be Todd only(7-9-97)
