Overcoming an early race incident with #19-Ty Gibbs, #20-John Hunter Nemechek rebounded to win the Cabo Wabo 250 Xfinity Series race at Michigan International Speedway. It’s his fifth win of the 2023 season and the 200th career Xfinity Series victory for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Polesitter #8-Josh Berry finished second, matching his best finish of the season. #9-Brandon Jones placed third, which is his best finish driving for JR Motorsports. #19-Gibbs and #1-Sam Mayer rounded out the top five.
#98-Riley Herbst tallied the third-most amount of points at Michigan and took the checkered flag in sixth. #10-Ross Chastain, #48-Parker Kligerman, #31-Parker Retzlaff and #27-Jeb Burton completed the top 10.
#7-Justin Allgaier was dominant early and won the opening stage, his series-high eighth stage victory of the season. A series of late-race miscues dropped him to 14th in the finishing order. #20-Nemechek took the second stage.
There were seven lead changes among six drivers and seven cautions for 31 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was 124.931 mph.
