Shane van Gisbergen scores first Xfinity Series victory at Portland: New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen claimed his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory in Saturday’s Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway. The popular Kiwi celebrated the hard-earned win with a burnout all the way around the 1.967-mile road course and then climbing out of his Chevy and topping it off by kicking a soccer ball into the thrilled crowd.(Read more)(6-1-2024)

#97-Shane van Gisbergen scored his first career Xfinity Series victory at Portland International Raceway. It took him just 13 starts to find Victory Lane and punch his ticket to the playoffs.
Gisbergen held off #7-Justin Allgaier, who won both stages and led a race-high 46 laps but was passed on a restart with four laps remaining. #8-Sammy Smith placed third, scoring his second consecutive top-five finish. #16-AJ Allmendinger rebounded from a trying day to finish fourth with #24-Ed Jones rounding out the top five.
2023 race winner #00-Cole Custer finished sixth, as #11-Josh Williams, #48-Parker Kligerman, #31-Parker Retzlaff and #98-Riley Herbst completed the top 10.
There were nine lead changes among four drivers and four cautions for 14 yellow flag laps.
The average speed of the race was: 69.575 mph.

Lap 75: #97-van Gisbergen holds off #7-Allgaier to score the first victory of his career.
Lap 74: #20-Truex spins on the final lap.
Lap 73: #1-Mayer gets into the tire barrier and cuts his left-rear tire while running third.
Lap 71: #97-van Gisbergen passes #7-Allgaier for the lead through Turns 3 and 4.
Lap 66: #81-Smith has an issue and significant hood damage. The caution flies for #9-Jones and #29-Perkins being stuck nose-deep in the tire barriers in Turn 12. #43-Ellis and #44-Poole both spun. #14-Castro also has damage.

The following will be the Pit Stop Procedure for the Xfinity Series Event held at Portland International Raceway (6/1/2024)
GENERAL PROCEDURE RULES
Standard pit stop procedure – Restart position, for cars that pit, will be the order that the vehicles exit pit road;
Fuel may be added at any time during the event;
Tires may be changed at any time during the event
PIT STOPS
Any pit stop, where tires are changed and/or fuel is added, must not be completed faster than the minimum time allotted from yellow line to yellow line: 63 seconds minimum;
In the event of flat tire(s) under green flag: If the tire(s) are visually flat when the vehicle enters pit road, the team may elect to change the flat tire(s) only and not be subject to the minimum time on pit road;
Vehicles pitting for mechanical issues, damage repair, or to serve a penalty will not be subject to the minimum time on pit road;
Vehicle must be stopped in the pit box before the pit crew can go over the wall;
The Fueler and (2) Tire Carriers are permitted in the assigned pit box, positioned close to the pit wall, as the vehicle approaches for a pit stop. They must remain close to the pit wall until the vehicle is stopped;
Left side tires must be controlled back to the wall
PIT STOP PENALTIES
Restart Tail End:
Not exceeding the minimum time limit on pit road during a pit stop under yellow;
Stopping, reducing speed, or impeding another vehicle in an attempt to not be under the minimum time limit
Pass-Through:
Not exceeding the minimum time limit on pit road during a pit stop under green;
Stopping, reducing speed, or impeding another vehicle in an attempt to not be under the minimum time limit

#1-Sam Mayer won the pole for the Pacific Office Automation 147 Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway (96.654 mph). It is his second career pole and his first on a road course.
Road course ace #97-Shane van Gisbergen will start second (96.596 mph), with #98-Riley Herbst (96.165 mph), #00-Cole Custer (96.068 mph) and #7-Justin Allgaier (96.068 mph) rounding out the top five. Custer and Allgaier ran the exact same speed.
#18-Sheldon Creed, #48-Parker Kligerman, #19-Josh Bilicki, #8-Sammy Smith and #16-AJ Allmendinger rounding out the top 10. Allmendinger didn’t make a lap in the final round of qualifying as he spun into the tire barriers after his lap in the opening round. The team unloaded the backup car.
