And another announcement: During the rain delay of the DeVilbiss 400, the #97 John Deere Pontiac owner, Greg Pollex was interviewed, the following information was extracted: Jack Roush and Greg Pollex have formed an alliance, called RP Racing, (for Roush-Pollex). The agreement was signed Saturday, August 16, 1997. Pollex will run the #97 team and assist with the three other Roush teams. An announcement on a sponsor and manufacturer for the team will be made soon, but Pollex said that it looks good for the team to retain John Deere as their sponsor. Other sources say that the team was already given their Roush Company handbooks Wednesday and I continue to hear the Johnny Benson rumors of Benson going to Roush in a fifth car, even possibly buying out #30 owner Chuck Rider(or maybe a partnership like the #97), Part-Owner, NFL Quarterback(St Louis) Mark Rypien was bought out(8-17-97). Roush added that Little has signed a multiyear agreement to continue driving the #97 car and that current owner Greg Pollex will remain as a shareholder and executive with the team(SpeedNet)(8-18-97)
