BGN Stuff

Two cars made their “first appearance” at the track on Saturday morning. Akins-Sutton Motorsports took its back-up Barbasol Ford off the hauler, converted it to No. 8 and put Raybestos Rookie candidate Kevin Grubb in the car, since the field was short. Ed Spencer III, NASCAR Winston Cup driver Jimmy Spencer’s nephew and a Busch North Series regular, made the trip over from Berwick, Pa., and will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut in the #87. Grubb has no practice times and no seat time in the car so unless something changed in the plans overnight, Grubb will only run a few laps and park the car. From what I hear Grubb was roaming the pits and NASCAR wanted to fill the field for the race. Ron Hornaday had a great qualifying lap at Nazareth and would have started 2nd, but the fuel didn’t pass inspection and he will have to start the #59 Chevy at the back of the field.(5-17-98)
