Teams that failed to make the field in first round qualifying and are 26th or worse but are guaranteed to make the Pepsi Southern 500 based on owners points: #12-Jeremy Mayfield(6 in owners points); #5-Terry Labonte(9); #23-Jimmy Spencer(12); #36-Ernie Irvan(15); #11-Brett Bodine(24); #42-Joe Nemechek(25) and #35-Darrell Waltrip(champ). Three teams got the last three front stretch pit stalls: #36-Ernie Irvan(26th); #12-Jeremy Mayfield(27) and #44-Kyle Petty(26), but they can be knocked off those spots in Saturday’s 2nd round qualifying. The three teams that would miss the race if things stayed the same: #13-Dennis Setzer(41); #96-Hut Stricklin(42) and #71-Dave Marcis(44)-(FYI-this is not bashing any of these drivers, just stating a fact).
