Brett Bodine hit the wall in practice and had to qualify a backup car. Kenny Irwin hit the wall and spun out during his qualifying lap. Kenny Wallace got out of shape but kept it off the wall. Terry Labonte had engine problems that resulted in a slow lap.(ESPN2 Qualifying) (09-04-1998)
