Remington Arms Company announced today it would not renew its primary sponsorship with Butch Mock Motorsports into the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup season. Tommy Millner, president and CEO of Remington Arms Company, said Remington anticipates an announcement within the next few weeks regarding its future NASCAR marketing strategy. Remington has been the primary sponsor on the #75 Ford Taurus since 1996, and has enjoyed its association with top-notch drivers Morgan Shepherd, Rick Mast, and Ted Musgrave. Since entering the sport, Remington has undertaken several unique promotional efforts, including a sporting clays competition among the drivers; distribution of rifles and shotguns to Bud Shootout participants; promotion of outdoor television shows featuring members of the NASCAR community; and a heavy radio advertising campaign marrying outdoor interests with auto racing.
