Earnhardt Signs Stolen:

Saw this in the Saturday Press of Atlantic City and thought it was interesting: Father-and-son racing legends Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are held in such high esteem in Randolph County that signs along a road bearing their name disappear with maddening regularity. The funny part is that Earnhardt Road in this Randolph County hamlet isn’t named for the racing Earnhardts, but for a local builder, Lawrence Earnhardt, who still lives on Earnhardt Road. The green and white signs along Earnhardt Road are the most frequently stolen road signs in the county. It is estimated that in 10 years, about 25 signs have been taken. It is estimated that it costs $100 to replace each sign, including labor. If sign-swipers also take the post, costs can run up to $150(also found it online at Total Sports)(1-9-2000)
