Winston Cup drivers Jeremy Mayfield and Todd Bodine and ARCA driver Shawna Robinson tested Monday at Atlanta Motor Speedway in preparation for the NAPA 500 weekend Nov. 17-19. Mayfield, who will race in the Winston Cup season-finale NAPA 500, turned a best lap 187.678mph in the #12-Mobil One Ford, which was the fastest lap of the day. The Winston Cup qualifying record is a 197.478, set in 1997 by Todd Bodine’s older brother, Geoffrey. Todd Bodine, who was testing the #66 Haas/Carter Motorsports car driven by Darrell Waltrip, had a best lap 187.487mph. Robinson, who will run the ARCA finale Georgia Boot 400 this November, ran a top lap of 183.333mph. The ARCA qualifying record is 184.345 mph, set in Nov. 1998 by Bobby Hamilton Jr(actually it is 188.021 held by Derrick Gilchrist in the Andy Petree Racing Chevy)(AMS PR).
