Stewart not Happy with CNN: Tony Stewart is furious at the producers of a CNN/SI tribute to Dale Earnhardt for running a clip that, to Stewarts way of thinking, intentionally placed his remarks in the wrong context. What happened was that, in a program devoted to Earnhardts memory, the cable sports channel ran remarks that purported to show Stewart talking about Earnhardts fatal crash. What he was actually talking about was his own crash in the Daytona 500, and what was self-deprecating in its original intent (“… the worlds not going to end just because a race driver crashes …”) seemed coldblooded and flippant when used as if Stewart had been talking about Earnhardt. Several CNN/SI employees have personally apologized, but management has refused requests from Stewart, Joe Gibbs and sponsor Home Depot to apologize for the mistake(Gaston Gazette)(3-3-2001) (3-2-2001)
