Benson 7th at his own track: Johnny Benson Jr.’s return to West Michigan didn’t have a storybook ending, but for 47 laps, it sure appeared that it would. Benson tore through the 36-car field in Saturday night’s Scott Baker Memorial 100 at the Berlin Raceway, moving from his 29th place starting position all the way up to fourth during the first half of the Late Model stock car race. Unfortunately for the Grand Rapids native, Benson eventually had to settle for seventh after fading down the stretch(Michigan Live)(5-15-2001)
