Teresa Earnhardt may be Questioned: The widow of NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt can be questioned about her motives for wanting the autopsy photos of her late husband sealed, a judge ruled Tuesday. Attorneys for a student newspaper trying to get access to the photos will ask Teresa Earnhardt if NASCAR played a role in her decision to get the photos temporarily sealed. An attorney for The Independent Florida Alligator, said he wants to question whether Mrs. Earnhardt had conversations with NASCAR president Mike Helton about the photos between the time of Earnhardt’s death and when the photos were sealed four days later. Attorneys for Mrs. Earnhardt objected to that line of questioning. A hearing is scheduled for June 11. It will also allow a judge to decide the constitutionality of the new state law restricting access to autopsy photos(ESPN/AP)(5-15-2001) AND see a story at the Orlando Sentinel: Racer’s widow can be asked why she had photos sealed(5-16-2001)
