Car chief Bryan Smith will serve as interim crew chief for the GNC Live Well Racing team at this weekend’s NASCAR Busch Series CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Cicci-Welliver Racing is in the process of selecting a crew chief to replace Billy Nacewicz. “The team has not been as competitive as we’d hoped this season, so we’re taking steps to rectify that situation,” said team co-owner Frank Cicci. “We felt the chemistry that is so vital to a team’s success was not apparent. We decided our first change needed to be at the crew chief position. Billy Nacewicz is a great crew chief, but we decided a change was necessary to improve our performance. I’m sure Billy’s future as a crew chief is very bright and we’ll see him in a competitor’s uniform this season. “We want to make the right decision and put the right person in place to help this team reach the top-10 in the Busch Series standings.
