Former Broadcaster Killed:

Former Broadcaster Killed: Rick Lewis, the “Voice of Daytona” for NASCAR fans throughout the nation, was killed Wednesday night inside his home in South Daytona, where his wife was found shot in the temple. “It looks like an attempted murder-suicide, but right now we don’t know,” said South Daytona Police Department Sgt. Ron Wright. For nearly 18 years, the 52-year-old Lewis was one of Motor Racing Network Radio’s studio announcers. More than 640 stations carry MRN in the United States and Canada. In Orlando, his program was broadcast on 740 AM (WQTM). He had weekly recordings in MRN Radio’s high-tech studio at the Daytona International Speedway. “I love the sport and don’t miss a race,” he said in the MRN page. “We usually have family over at our house while we listen to MRN’s broadcast while watching TV.” Lewis had been involved in radio since 1983, beginning in his hometown of South Daytona. He was the morning announcer, sold advertising, recorded ads, broadcast football, baseball and basketball games, and announced at the track where his father raced. He also did voice work for Cypress Gardens.(Orlando Sentinel)(7-12-2001)
