New Hampshire Grand Marshal: The dean of American motorsports writers, Chris Economaki, has been named Grand Marshal for the Sunday, July 22 New England 300 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at New Hampshire. Economaki is the editor and publisher emeritus of the racing weekly National Speed Sport News. In making this announcement NHIS President Gary Bahre said, “To most in the sport and certainly to my family, the name Chris Economaki and auto racing are synonymous. It is an honor for us to recognize his long and on-going contributions to our sport.” Economaki will be the honoree at the annual Grand Marshal’s Dinner on Saturday evening, July 21. Chris will give the command to start engines for the New England 300 at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 22.(NHIS PR)(7-17-2001)
