Shawn Parker’s Wife Gets Help UPDATE 2: it was mentioned during Happy Hour that #6 Car Chief, Shawn Parker’s was flown down to Winston Salem, NC by team owner Jack Roush. Parker’s wife, Tara, is on the priority list for a heart transplant and it was reported one was found and Roush thinks Tara is in surgery now or getting ready to get the new heart(TNT Happy Hour Coverage), for the whole story, see my #6 Team News and Links page(7-28-2001) UPDATE: it was mentioned by Allen Bestwick during the Pennsylvania 500 broadcast that Tara had the surgery to transplant the new heard and so far so good and that she was doing ok up to that point(7-29-2001) UPDATE 2: Shawn Parker, car chief for NASCAR driver Mark Martin, has asked us to release this statement regarding his wife, Tara Howell Parker, who underwent a heart transplant at WFUBMC Saturday: “Tara is recovering and doing well. She appreciates the many expressions of hope and goodwill that have been relayed to her. Tara is not able to receive visitors while she is in the hospital. And asks anyone thinking of sending flowers or a gift to consider making a donation instead to help future transplant patients. Donations should be sent to NC Baptist Hospital Pastoral Care, designated for cardiothoracic transplant patients.
