NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway’s back:

NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway’s back: The NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway Racing Center at Katy Mills Mall (Houston, TX) is back on track. On Sept. 4, a group of private investors reopened the shuttered store formerly owned by Silicon Entertainment Inc. The new owner, Indianapolis-based Perfect Line, also reopened stores in Nashville, Charlotte and six other locations nationally. Mace Hirt, general manager of Katy Mills Mall, says the store is one of the most popular attractions in the mall. “A lot of people come to the mall just for that store,” says Hirt. “It’s a unique store because it’s rare to find anything like it in the city, so it does very well.” The Katy Mills store features NASCAR simulators mounted on a specially developed hydraulic platform with 3-D screens displaying the driver’s performance from a computer-generated race. The store also sells official NASCAR merchandise and speedway clothing. Perfect Line is currently re-negotiating contracts with several NASCAR drivers as sponsors.(Houston Business Journal)(10-1-2001)
