Jr’s thoughts on #3: If NASCAR ever retires Dale Earnhardt’s No. 3, it will be against the wishes of his son and namesake. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he doesn’t think it would be fair to Richard Petty, the sport’s other seven-time champion, if NASCAR were to retire Earnhardt’s No. 3 and not Petty’s No. 43.
