TV Loses on NASCAR: Fox, NBC and Turner Sports lost more than $100 million on NASCAR during the first year of a six-year, roughly $2.5 billion television contract even as ratings skyrocketed, network sources have told The Sports Business Journal. The NBC/Turner joint venture lost close to $50 million, according to the business paper’s sources, while Fox, which paid a higher rights fee for the more attractive first-half coverage, is widely thought to have lost even more.(more at That’s Racin’)(11-27-2001)
