Hobbs to ARCA:

ARCA driver Andy Belmont announced that he will field a Ford Taurus for female rookie driver Sunny Hobbs in the February 10th Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona. Hobbs will driver the #91 in her ARCA debut. Hobbs has been racing for eight years, first in sports cars and then in trucks and Late Models at short tracks like Southside Speedway in Richmond, Southern National Speedway in Kenly and Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC. Belmont seems to have little doubt that Sunnys stuff is righteous. “Shes the real deal,” he says. “You should have seen her testing the car at Daytona. We lowered the car a bit, and the officials went berserk, but I had to send her back out on the track to see if she could drive at 190 miles an hour. You should have seen her. Shes got what it takes.”
AND Andy Belmont also announced that he has entered into a joint agreement with Quest Motorsports. Quest, jointly owned by Derrike Cope and Mark Smith, operates from the Huntersville, NC facility that was once the home for the former Kenny Bernstein NASCAR Winston Cup team. Quest will prepare the superspeedway cars for Belmont from that facility while Belmont will continue to prepare short-tracks cars from his own Pennsylvania shop. Belmont Motorsports already tested a Quest Motorsports prepared Ford Taurus at Daytona during December testing.(ARCA site and a Gaston Gazette Column)(1-25-2002)
