Record Crowd: Sunday’ race set a record at Talladega for attendance. Every one of the 143,500 seats were sold and, with the fans in the 212-acre infield, the attendance was estimated at 170,000. The extra capacity comes from the fact that the O.V. Hill South Tower at the track was expanded by 5,200 seats.(Montgomery Advertiser)(4-22-2002)
