David Donohue, who drove the #25 car in the BGN for part of the 2001 season? Donohue, son of the late Mark Donohue, will be announced Monday as the second driver of a Brumos Porsche-FABCAR slated to compete at the 2003 Rolex 24 At Daytona. Donohue will join Wayne Jackson in one of two cars from Jacksonville businessman Bob Snodgrass, owner of Brumos — a name synonymous with endurance racing championships. Donohue has scored a victory in one of the crown jewels of endurance racing, co-driving a Dodge Viper to a first-place GT-2 class finish at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. “I like the uniqueness of the (Daytona Prototypes) formula,” Donohue said. “It allows a much larger spectrum of drivers to compete for the overall win — which in sports car racing has not been available to most people because there are so many classes of cars. I think this will open the door for more people to compete for the overall win, which is much more rewarding and what teams and drivers want.” Daytona Beach-based Grand American introduced the Daytona Prototypes class in late January in an effort to smooth the ups-and-downs of prototype racing participation.(Daytona Beach News Journal)(6-4-2002)
