Cingular Helps UPDATE: Cingular Wireless says it will donate $100,000 to Special Olympics if Robby Gordon can drive Richard Childress Racing’s #31 Chevy to victory in next Sunday’s Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Sears Point Raceway. Cingular Wireless, which sponsors Gordon’s car, is in the midst of a four-year campaign to raise $40 million for Special Olympics. Cingular Wireless will also donate $100 for each lap he leads and $50 for each lap he completes in the 110-lap event.(Winston Cup Scene Daily Newsletter)(6-18-2002) UPDATE: Twenty Special Olympics athletes will be the special guests of Cingular Wireless and Robby Gordon to watch the road course specialist take another shot at winning after his second-place finish there last year. Beginning this weekend, the #31 Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Chevy will also carry the Special Olympics USA decal for the remainder of the 2002 season. Cingular Wireless, the National Partner of Special Olympics, Inc., and the exclusive telecommunications sponsor of Special Olympics TEAM USA, is in the third year of its support for Special Olympics U.S. Programs. In addition, Cingular Wireless launched a 60-day promotional drive on June 1, 2002, to collect donations on behalf of Special Olympics. Those who donate $20 to Special Olympics at a Cingular Wireless retail store are eligible for a FREE wireless handset or a $50 mail-in rebate. The nationwide effort spearheaded by Cingular is the largest sponsorship in Special Olympics history.
