Stewart Buys Zippy a ‘Vette: Tony Stewart began today by giving something extremely nice to his crew chief, Greg Zipadelli. When Stewart and Zipadelli first began working together at Joe Gibbs Racing in 1999, Stewart told his crew chief that if they ever won a championship, Stewart would buy Zipadelli a new Chevrolet Corvette. It was a promise that Zipadelli had forgotten about, but Stewart made good on it Friday morning, surprising Zipadelli by having a brand new red ‘Vette brought to the Park Avenue entrance of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, the headquarters for NASCAR championship week activities.
