Not NASCAR but pretty interesting for local TX racers:

Terry Dickerson can’t think of a better way to open the season than with a big event. And he can’t think of a bigger racing event in Texas to be associated with than the upcoming NASCAR Winston Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway. So Dickerson, the promoter at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, has come up with a one-of-a-kind promotion. On Lone Star’s opening night Saturday, he will offer 24 drivers the chance to be part of the big weekend at TMS – even if it is in a support race for a support race. The top 24 finishers in Saturday’s IMCA modified feature race at Lone Star will race in an IMCA support event for the O’Reilly World of Outlaws at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track on March 28-29. The Winston Cup race will be held at TMS on March 30.( Dallas Morning News – may need to register to read)(3-22-2003)
