Some Busch teams would like to see NASCAR shorten the field by a few cars. The reason for doing so is to avoid scrambling to fill the field each week and to eliminate the problem of much slower cars clogging the track. That would likely result in promoters wanting to cut the purse, but if adjustments weren’t made it would ease some of the rising cost problems due to an increased payout per team.(Winston Cup Scene/BGN Racing)(3-27-2003)
