After the crowds left and the sound of the engines quieted, Teresa and Don Bertke led a small group of friends and family to the winner’s circle. That’s where they got married. “We’re both huge race fans,” Teresa said. Huge enough that six months ago, they started asking if they could hold their wedding at the track. It was the first such ceremony at MIS. Teresa has attended races there for 25 years while growing up in Camden. Don is an Earnhardt Jr. fan. They wore their wedding clothes around MIS all day and posed for pictures with drivers. To them, it was the perfect wedding. “It was what we wanted,” Teresa said. “The best part was getting our picture taken with Richard Petty.” The honeymoon begins Sunday — at MIS, of course.( Detroit Free Press )(6-14-2003)
