there were some rumors floating around that once Nextel takes over in 2004 that all the scanners fans own will be obsolete starting in February 2004. That’s not the case, seems someone was spreading this rumor on many message boards. A response from Nextel: “No, we understand that fans listening in to the conversations is one of the most exciting aspects of the sport, and we wouldn’t want to change that. We haven’t begun the planning for how we would approach this from a technology perspective, but we know the most important thing we can do is to put the fans’ interests first. That’s the priority that will drive all decisions and plans.(6-24-2003)
