UPDATE – The Monsters are Roaring to Life, set to invade Memphis During an unveiling event Wednesday at Memphis Motorsports Park, Action Performance Companies Inc. and Universal Studios announced that the classic monsters of Halloween lore will rise again during the Sam’s Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series race on Oct. 18, 2003. Drivers Greg Biffle, Mike Bliss, Scott Wimmer and Kyle Busch will create the scary race-day quartet via a special paint scheme program that features Universal’s Monsters characters. Before the Monsters are set loose at Memphis Motorsports Park this fall, another Monster Bash will take place at Boyd Gaming Corporation’s, Sam’s Town Tunica property, a casino resort in Robinsonville, Miss., on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003. The Monster Bash will include appearances by all four Monsters program drivers and their creepy counterparts as well as an autograph session, live entertainment in the Sam’s Town Tunica atrium and a silent auction benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Activities kick off at 7 p.m. Media information and photograph opportunities also will be provided.
The NASCAR Busch Series will be invaded by the likes of The Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein and The Wolf Man. The following drivers, cars and monsters will be part of the race day action on Saturday, October 18:
#7-Greg Biffle, Kleenex/The Wolf Man – Wolfman needs a tissue or soft toilet paper?
#20-Mike Bliss, Rockwell Automation/Frankenstein – Frankie needs to automate some current?
#23-Scott Wimmer, Stacker 2/Dracula – The Count looking to lose some weight?
#87-Kyle Busch, ditech.com/The Mummy – needs to finance a new tomb?
In addition to the monstrous race cars on the track, fans will have the opportunity to get in the Halloween spirit with a World’s Scariest Fan Costume Contest. The contest will be judged prior to the start of the October NASCAR Busch Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park.
