Busch on ARCA pole at Pocono:

Kyle Busch, driver of the #87 ditech.com Chevy, earned the Pennsylvania 200 pole position during ARCA Series qualifying at Pocono Raceway on Thursday. With a lap of 170.849mph, the 18-year-old shattered Casey Mears’ month-old ARCA track record of 169.802 [that race will run Friday as it was postponed in June due to rain]. The pole at Pocono is the second for Busch in ARCA competition this season [Nashville]. After Saturday’s event, Busch’s next scheduled appearance will be at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Aug. 2 in the Busch Series — his second career start on the circuit. Busch’s car is a Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the 2002 body style. It has been raced by Jeff Gordon and was used as a backup car for Jimmie Johnson last season.(Hendrick Motorsports PR)(7-25-2003)
