#89-Morgan Shepherd has withdrawn his Winston Cup entry from the Brickyard 400. “The pistons for the new engine didn’t come in, ” stated Shepherd. “Instead of embarrassing myself or the sport I decided not to use the old engine.” Shepherd said he will not return with the Cup car until the new engine is ready. However, according to team sources, Earl Ramey of Hitech, located in Mooresville, NC, said the pistons should be in by the middle of next week. This will allow Shepherd the needed time to have the Cup engine ready for his plans to compete in the Shapie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 23. Shepherd will attempt to qualify for the Craftsman Truck Power Stroke Diesel at IRP.( Morgan Shepherd site )(8-1-2003)
