MSM Sports Marketing Group has signed on handle sponsorships for Thurman Thomas Racing, the business venture launched by the former Buffalo Bills running back. The Rochester firm, a division of Mason Selkowitz Marketing, will be in charge of local, regional and national sponsorship packages. Thomas Racing is based in Orlando, Fla., and made its debut recently on the American Speed Association circuit in Chicago with 20-year old rookie driver Tim Russell. The team will race on two more occasions in ASA events this year and again next year with plans to move to the Nascar Busch Series in 2005. Thurman Thomas was a member of the Bills’ four Super Bowl teams and finished as the National Football League’s ninth all-time leading rusher. His former Bills’ teammate, Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, has also become involved in professional auto racing.(Buffalo Business First)(9-25-2003)
