No Restrictor Plates in NASCAR’s future?

Gary Nelson, NASCAR’s managing director of research and development, says engines could run free of restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega in the near future. Nelson, a former crew chief, always has thought restrictor-plate races are a pain, and he’s looking at other ways to decrease horsepower without restricting the airflow to the carburetor.( Fox Sports/Sporting News )(10-27-2003)
