General Motor’s decision to pull the plug on Pontiac support in NASCAR caught everyone by surprise and it is apparently related to pressure from NASCAR demanding more money from the Detroit car maker – at least $1 million a race, according to reports – to be the official pace car of the Winston/Nextel Cup circuit.
