#44 [now #24] Looking for a sponsor:

GIC-Mixon Motorsports won’t have sponsorship as the FanZCar in next year’s Busch Series, the fan-supported sponsorship service says. “We enjoyed our time with GIC-Mixon Motorsports last year,” said Scott Stricker of the FanZCar. “However, the majority of our aggregate member base has voted to look at other teams/opportunities for sponsorship” Stricker said negotiations are under way with other teams. Details on FanZCar membership, which starts at $37, is available on its Web site, www.thefanzcar.com.(Winston Cup Scene Daily Newsletter)(12-12-2003)
UPDATE: GIC Motorsports announced the team will use the #24 on its Busch Series car in the 2004 season. Driver Mike Harmon last raced with the number in the 1996 Busch Series season. Prior to that, Harmon raced with #24 in lower racing divisions including the NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series and The Hooters Cup Series. Im excited to be racing with the #24 again. Its the number I have won all my championships with, and the number people know me by, said Harmon. Harmon was asked by Nextel Cup driver Terry Labonte for the rights to the #44 for his son Justin Labontes Busch Series car. Harmon then suggested that Labonte ask his Hendrick Motorsports team, who owns the #24 in NASCARs Busch and Nextel Cup Series, to release #24 for Harmons Busch Series car. I basically told him, well give you the 44 if you can get us the 24. So everything worked out, said Harmon.(PR via Insider Racing News)(12-18-2003)
