“The World Center of Racing” – Daytona International Speedway – underwent somewhat of a face-lift on Tuesday as the Winston logo panels from the twin scoring “Tri-lon” towers were removed. The 75-foot towers, located in the infield of the Speedway, have been in place since 1981. The familiar red and white Winston panels will be replaced with new NASCAR Cup sponsor NEXTEL logos in time for Speedweeks beginning in January 2004.
