Host Steve Byrnes will take to the stage with NASCAR beat writers Ben Blake, David Poole, Mike Mulhern and Marty Smith as SPEED Channel’s new live program — Pit Bull — debuts Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. from North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham. “SPEED continues to bring the fans fresh ways of looking at our sport, and Pit Bull is yet another example of that continued effort,” said Smith, a featured columnist on NASCAR.com. “David, Mike, Ben and I are all rather opinionated people when it comes to the intricacies of NASCAR racing, its personalities and the folks that run the show, and profess those feelings daily in print. So, taking those opinions and putting them in a live television format should make for some serious fireworks. It’s going to be a hoot, and I’m really excited about the opportunity. I think the show has great potential, because with each of the four of us, what you see is what you get.” The live show, which will air Saturdays at 6:30pm/et on NEXTEL Cup weekends when on-track action permits, will be produced from SPEED Channel’s new traveling stage truck from the site of each week’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event. Additional reporters will join Pit Bull throughout the racing season.(Speed Channel)(1-17-2004)
