Justin Labonte, driver of the 2004 Team Coast Guard Racing/Labonte Motorsports #44 NASCAR Busch Series car, will visit Coast Guard units in Charleston, S.C., Jan. 20-21. The visit is Labonte’s first opportunity to witness the mission capabilities of the Coast Guard since the service announced its partnership with Labonte Motorsports for a 15-race schedule in the 2004 NASCAR Busch Series in mid December. Labonte will receive an orientation to the Coast Guard including a tour of the Coast Guard Cutter Anvil, rides aboard the 87-foot cutter Tarpon, a 47-foot motor lifeboat and a 25-foot Defender Class homeland security boat, and a search and rescue demonstration between an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter and the 25-foot Defender Class boat. On Wednesday he will tour the 378-foot cutters Dallas and Gallatin. Justin Labonte is excited to be representing the men and women of the United States Coast Guard during the upcoming 2004 NASCAR Busch Series championship. “It is an honor for me to be associated with such a great military service as the Coast Guard,” Labonte said. “I am privileged to have the opportunity to foster a better understanding of all the Coast Guard does and what it represents, and I am committed to using the vast array of outreach venues NASCAR affords to do just that,” he said.(Labonte Motorsports PR)(1-21-2004)
