General Motors has provided the Official Pace Car for the Daytona 500 during the entire “Modern Era” of NASCAR and this year is no exception. The 2004 Corvette Coupe, considered “America’s performance icon,” will continue that tradition and pace this year’s Daytona 500, the opening race of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series on Feb. 15. Today’s Corvette continues to deliver excitement by combining the perfect blend of performance, technology and content. Nearly 1.4 million Corvettes have been sold worldwide in its 51-year history. Corvette will pace four events at the Daytona International Speedway during Speedweeks this month, including the Budweiser Shootout, the Gatorade 125-Mile qualifying races, the Hershey’s Kisses 300 and the Daytona 500. These four events help make up the 57 national NASCAR events Chevrolet will pace in 2004 season (26 Nextel Cup, 18 Busch, and 13 Craftsman Truck races).(GM PR)(2-8-2004)
