The NASCAR Busch Series won’t just toy with impounding cars after qualifying at some events in 2005. It will impound them after every qualifying session in 2005. The move is designed to save money and keep teams focused on race setups during their practice prior to qualifying. Although it hasn’t been made official, there will be a change in qualifying rules that should allow teams to focus on racing setups. Busch Series teams that are in the top 30 in points – and started every event of the season – likely will be locked into the field unless they have an active top-35 Cup driver behind the wheel. Teams likely will use one set of tires in that practice prior to qualifying. Instead of having a limit on the sets of tires teams can replace under caution, teams will have a limit on the number of sets they can use during the weekend.(NASCAR Scene via BGNRacing.com)(12-19-2004)
